Traffic accident in Andhra Pradesh: 7 people died and many were injured when a bus collided with a rickshaw in Anantpur district.

At least seven people were killed and many others were injured when a bus belonging to the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) collided with a rickshaw in the state’s Anantpur district on Saturday, police said.

The accident took place near Talagasipalli cross in Garladinne mandal, in a banana field near Thimmampeta, when daily wage laborers were returning from work.

The deceased were identified as D Nagamma, Ramanjinamma, Balapeddayya and B Nagamma.

The injured were taken to surrounding hospitals and treated.

According to eyewitnesses, around 13 people were traveling in a rickshaw and they were identified as residents of Ellutla village of Putlur mandal.

Officials said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who expressed shock over the road accident, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and announced that a compensation of 5 lakh rupees would be paid to the families of the deceased.

Naidu instructed the district authorities to take necessary steps to ensure that those injured in the incident receive the best possible medical care.
