One dead in fatal crash in Madison County

MADISON COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – One person died in a crash in Madison County Friday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS said the crash occurred at 4:21 p.m. on SH 21 near Oxford Cemetery between Madisonville and North Zultch.

An eastbound 18-wheeler was approaching a work convoy on the other side of Hillcrest when it began to stop. A Ford F350, also traveling eastbound, struck the rear of the 18-wheeler.

The driver of the Ford of Leona was Douglas Hancock Jr. (25) died at the scene, while the driver of the 18-wheeler was treated for his injuries and released.

DPS is still investigating.
