The shooting happened around 1:40 p.m. Friday near Division and Riordon streets.

Police arrived to find two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds.

One of the injured was rushed to a local hospital, where he died. It was stated that the other was taken to a hospital outside the Niagara Region and was treated for life-threatening injuries.

Following the shooting, police released a photo of a suspect they described as “armed and dangerous.”

In a press release on Sunday, police confirmed the suspect was arrested after “several hours of negotiations” at a home on Churchill Street on Saturday afternoon.

St. Daniel Dale Rosebush, 47, of St. Catharines, was charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder.

Police said they are continuing to search for a person wanted in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, while the motive for the attack remains unclear, police say investigators have information that it was targeted.
