Suspect charged with sexual assault and robbery at Kansas home

JOHNSON COUNTY—A suspect accused of sexual assault and robbery appeared in court for the first time.

A man was charged Tuesday following a sexual assault in Overland Park, Kansas.

On Nov. 21, 37-year-old Gabriel Pascaul Hernandez was charged with rape, two counts of aggravated sodomy, aggravated burglary and burglary, according to the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office.

The incident occurred around 02.30 at night. Nov. 19 at a home near W. 97th Street and Reeder in Overland Park, according to Overland Park Police Officer John Lacy.

The victim did not know the suspect but was able to describe him as a stocky build, clean shaven man in his late twenties to early thirties. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with a black beanie-style hat.

The emergency service took the injured person, whose injuries were not life-threatening, to a local hospital.

The Overland Park Police Department arrested the suspect with assistance from the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department.

Hernandez is expected to appear in court again on Dec. 5, according to online jail records.
