One person killed in attack in Finglas

A man has died in an attack in Finglas, Dublin, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

BBC News NI understands that gardaí (Irish police) are treating the incident as a murder.

Shortly before 00:30 GMT, gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of an assault outside a house in Dunsink Green.

A man in his 60s was treated at the scene and later pronounced dead at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.

Officers remained at the scene Tuesday morning to conduct a forensic examination.

In a statement, Gardai said the coroner had been notified and the Garda Technical Bureau and the State Pathologist’s Office had been requested to assist with the investigation.

The statement stated that an autopsy would be performed.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or has video footage from the area to contact them.
