Atlanta police increase reward in search of suspect accused of stabbing a bank employee during an attempted robbery last week.

Authorities said the robbery occurred around noon on Nov. 20 at the United Community Bank on Caroline Street NE.

That day, police officers responded to the bank after receiving a report of a robbery and stabbing and found an employee stabbed in the stomach.

According to investigators, an unidentified male entered the bank, got behind the employee counter and demanded money from a staff member.

It was reported that the man stabbed the employee and ran away when he was told he did not have the money.

While the injured worker was hospitalized, his health condition is expected to improve.

“This act of violence is absolutely appalling,” a spokesperson for United Community Bank said in a statement. “We are extremely grateful to law enforcement and will continue to support their efforts, so this individual will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Authorities hope the new $25,000 reward will lead to information that will help them arrest and prosecute the suspect.

“We are deeply committed to achieving justice for the victim and the safety of our community,” said Sgt. Travis Williams is the director of Greater Atlanta Crime Stoppers. “We believe this significant increase in reward will encourage someone with critical information to come forward.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers Atlanta. Tips can be provided by calling 404-577-TIPS (8477) and visiting: Stop CrimeAtl.orgor report to CRIMES (738477) by texting “CSGA.”
