Man stopped at airport after Guernsey jewelery theft

Police said: “A man was arrested on suspicion of theft at Guernsey Airport Departures Lounge as he attempted to board an Aurigny flight to London Gatwick at 1pm.

“Police officers boarded the plane following the arrest to ensure that no other passengers were linked to groups seen near the scene of the crime and to retrieve luggage belonging to the arrested man that was already on the flight.

“The stolen items were seized from the luggage of the plane.”

The investigation and subsequent search delayed the flight by about 20 minutes, police said.
