SURREY, BC — A man accused of fatally stabbing an 18-year-old teenager in a Metro Vancouver high school parking lot two years ago has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

SURREY, BC — A man accused of fatally stabbing an 18-year-old teenager in a Metro Vancouver high school parking lot two years ago has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Homicide investigators said the man, who has not been identified because he was 17 at the time of the attack, pleaded guilty Wednesday in provincial court in Surrey, B.C.

The stabbing occurred on November 22, 2022, at Tamanawis Secondary School in Surrey, where police found 18-year-old Mehakpreet Sethi dead from her injuries.

While the homicide team was dealing with the incident, the police identified the suspect and detained him.

The man was charged with second-degree murder in November 2023.

His sentencing hearing is scheduled for Jan. 9, 2025, police said.
