The investigation continues following a fatal UTV crash in Jackson Co.

JACKSON COUNTY, Illinois (KFVS) – A man is facing charges following a fatal UTV crash in southern Illinois Saturday night.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred just before midnight on October 26, along the embankment in Grand Tower, Illinois, in the area of ​​Front Street and 25th Avenue.

Initial investigation revealed that a UTV with four people on board had overturned while traveling on set.

One of the passengers, 38-year-old Sara N. Bolter of Murphysboro, died at the scene.

Another passenger, Nicholas A. Bastien, 31, of Murphysboro, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries. A third passenger, 29-year-old Kayle L. Clover of Gorham, reported no injuries.

Rusty W. Huffman, 36, also of Gorham, was driving the vehicle when it overturned. He also had to be taken to a local hospital for treatment.

But after he was released from the hospital, the sheriff’s office said Huffman was arrested in Jackson Co. Jackson Co., based on State’s Attorney’s Office complaints of aggravated DUI, reckless driving, and failure to remain at the scene of a personal injury accident. He said he was imprisoned in his prison.
