Maine state representative says he plans to turn himself in over aggravated assault charges

SANFORD (WGME) — A Maine state representative says he plans to turn himself in after facing an active arrest warrant charging him with aggravated assault.

Republican Rep. Lucas Lanigan told CBS13 in an email that he plans to turn himself in to the York County Jail on Sunday at 11 p.m. He said he was going on a business trip this weekend.

Police are searching for Lanigan following an incident on Friday. He is charged with aggravated domestic-related assault.

Lanigan is currently running for re-election against Democrat Patricia Kidder.
