‘He actually bragged about it’

BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Two men are facing charges after one of them allegedly bragged to his ex about stolen tools earlier this month.

Galen Lee Garrison, 48, of Frostburg, Maryland, and Cory Joseph Crabtree, 33, of Cumberland, Maryland, were charged following an investigation into the theft of multiple power tools from a person’s garage on Oct. 16.

According to the criminal complaint, the homeowners posted photos of the stolen appliances and asked everyone on Facebook to watch as they were put up for sale. Garrison’s ex-wife allegedly contacted the victims later and told them she thought Garrison might have the necessary tools. “He actually bragged to me about this,” he wrote in the message, according to police.

State troopers from Maryland helped obtain a search warrant at Garrison’s home, where some of the stolen tools were found. Troopers said Garrison agreed to speak with them at the state police barracks in Bedford.

According to allegations, Garrison admitted that he entered the garage with Crabtree and said that Crabtree told him that these were his tools and that he wanted to get them back from a “crazy woman.” Garrison claimed it was all Crabtree’s idea and followed his instructions, investigators said.

Garrison claimed they were only in the garage for a minute or two, and after they left, Crabtree took photographs of the items to be sold. He told investigators that Crabtree sold most of the tools for $300 and claimed that he had some of the other tools and did not know how to return them to the victims.
