Surveillance video of the CATS bus attack helped officers make an arrest.

>>At 5pm, Channel 9’s Erika Jackson watches the video.

The footage shows a man, identified by police as Josiah Maitland, boarding a CATS bus around 2pm on June 13.

Maitland was sitting across the aisle from a woman as the bus passed through northwest Charlotte.

Shortly after, he stood up from his seat, pulled out a knife from the back of his backpack and stabbed the woman several times in the neck.

He grabbed the woman’s purse, but the woman stood up and fought back.

The attacker then took the woman’s bag and ran away.

In the video, he can be seen walking up and down the corridor while making a phone call.

Maitland also stabbed a woman on Randolph Road and a man on Old Mount Holly Road hours before the CATS bus stabbing, CMPD said.

Maitland remains in jail without bail, charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of attempted murder and armed robbery.
