Alexander Mattison Explains How the Raiders Can Succeed on the Field

The Las Vegas Raiders haven’t established an offensive identity all season. Heading into the season, Coach Antonio Pierce wanted to be the first-place team.

The Raiders had sparks here and there, but the production on the ground wasn’t consistent enough. If something is going right on offense, Offensive Coordinator Luke Getsy is doing the exact opposite.

It’s no secret that opposing defenses stack the box against the Raiders. And in order to set up the run, this offense needs to pass the ball first.

Last week the Raiders played one of the worst games in league history. Raiders running back Alexander Mattison carried the ball 14 times for just 15 yards.

“It will take a collective effort to uncover the details,” Mattison told reporters Wednesday. he said. “Everybody’s got to do their part. And when we can do that consistently — I mean, we’ve seen it here and there, but we’ve got to do it consistently. Once we can do that, we can start to move forward and things will start to come together and we’ll start putting together plays and we’ll build from that.” .

“… We had some momentum from the previous game, but this week we played with a tough defensive unit and made a few plays here and there; we just had some execution errors. Whether it’s a call or a possession. They’re on defense and they want us to take it back – that kind of thing, both.” “And from a practical standpoint, there are very few moments in the game where we feel like we could have done better.”

The Raiders travel to Cincinnati this Sunday to face another talented defense that loves to blitz.

“So it’s no different than anything we’ve seen before,” Mattison said. “Some of the defenses we’ve faced have shown to attack as much or even more. So it’s not something we’re not ready to handle. We’re coming into this game to get in there and handle whatever they bring. We’re on offense as far as our offensive mentality is concerned.”
