Deputies in Arapahoe County are conducting a series of investigations meal time thefts In multimillion-dollar homes, similar to the national burglary tourism trend.

At least nine burglaries occurred at high-value single-family homes in Arapahoe County between February 2 and October 18, usually within one to two hours of sunset. Thieves steal valuable items such as jewellery, designer wallets, cash and safes from homes.

The total value of the stolen items is approximately $1 million. No arrests have been made at this time.

All of the homes in Arapahoe County, four homes in Cherry Hills Village, two homes in Littleton, one home in Columbine Valley and two homes in unincorporated Arapahoe County were burglarized, backing up into open space, fields or tree cover. In most burglaries in this area, two to four suspects worked together; he wore masks, hoodies, gloves, and sometimes carried a backpack, breaking the exterior glass door and going through closets, dressers, and bathrooms for valuables.

Most burglaries occurred between 5pm and 8pm on Fridays, when most homeowners were not at home. But at least one burglary in Cherry Hills Village was foiled by a homeowner who was there.

Investigators say the thefts are consistent with a trend of similar thefts seen across the country, particularly in Scottsdale, Arizona, and California’s San Fernando Valley.
