Police arrested a man they say stabbed another man in Santa Maria on Thursday.

Santa Maria police said officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the 200 block of E. Main Street around 8:35 a.m.

Officers said they found a 65-year-old man to have “serious stab wound injuries”.

He was taken to a nearby hospital, and on Friday morning police said he remained in critical but stable condition.

His name was not disclosed.

Police said after “extensive pursuit” they identified the suspect as Frank Castillo of Santa Maria.

They said the 43-year-old man was seen leaving the scene shortly after the attack and the victim recognized him.

According to police, Castillo was found on N. Depot St. A search warrant was executed at his home in the 200 block around 1:30 p.m.; The suspect was reportedly taken into custody and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder. elder abuse.

Bail was set at $1 million.
