PC banned from policing after gross misconduct proven

A police officer was dismissed without notice following a misconduct hearing this week.

PC Justin Robbie, who lives in Bristol, has also been banned from working in policing in the future.

A panel chaired by a Statutory Qualified Chair (LQC) found the allegations were substantiated, which included sexual impropriety, inappropriate demands, communication and the sending of an unsolicited image by PC Robbie to a woman who was then working for Avon and Somerset Police. .

Following a two-day hearing at our headquarters in Portishead, PC Robbie was found to have breached four professional standards:

  • Honesty and Integrity
  • Authority, Respect and Courtesy
  • Equality and Diversity
  • Disreputable Behavior

Interim Superintendent Sharon Baker, Head of our Professional Standards Department, He said: “PC Robbie’s behavior fell well below the standards required of anyone serving in the force.

“He acted in a way that brought the police force into disrepute and undoubtedly undermined public trust.

“Someone who acts so inappropriately has no place in the police profession. His behavior towards her was a violation of her dignity, which he knew did not want him to behave that way.

“We hope that this decision banning him from working within the force will once again send a strong message to the public that this type of behavior will not be tolerated in any way.”

The hearing was held in private at the behest of the LQC, which is independent of the police force. After the trial was completed, they allowed the identity of the officer involved to be made public.

A copy of LQC’s notification of outcome and decision will be published in the fraud section of our website once finalized..
