Five dead after Dane Co. vehicle burst into flames

VERONA Township, Wis. (WMTV) – Five people died after the vehicle they were in crashed and set on fire late Friday night, according to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.

DCSO confirmed the vehicle was traveling north on Range Trail when it left the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle was set on fire and completely engulfed in flames.

All five people inside were dead, according to DCSO deputies who arrived at the scene around 11:12 p.m. Friday.

DCSO, Verona Police and Verona Fire and EMS responded to the scene just north of Sunset Drive.

The identities of the victims will be released at a later date, authorities said.

DCSO is still investigating what caused the crash.
