Newport face FA action after object thrown during FA Cup tie

Newport County said they were “disappointed” to face disciplinary action and a possible fine from the Football Association (FA) after an object was thrown onto the pitch during their FA Cup tie with Peterborough United.

He said an object was thrown onto the field of play from the terrace behind Rodney Parade when the Exiles faced Darren Ferguson’s side in South Wales on Saturday afternoon.

This came after a public warning was issued following the club’s League Two match against Chesterfield in October; This warning includes potential penalties, including fines for the club, stadium bans and possible investigations into individuals.

A statement from the club said: “The club is currently reviewing CCTV footage and details of any person seen throwing an object will be passed to the Police for potential investigation and will receive an immediate stadium ban.

“The club will also consider closing the terrace immediately behind the dugout for future matches, as has been the case in the past.”

Newport added: “We would like to remind our fans once again that this behavior is completely unacceptable and dangerous and we will maintain our zero tolerance policy going forward.”
