1 person died in Bradenton, suspected drunk driver arrested: Police

A. bradenton A woman died in a car crash and a man suspected of driving under the influence remains in jail, according to authorities.

The Bradenton Police Department (BPD) says 25-year-old Cesar Navarrete was driving a Nissan Altima westbound when he ran a red light and entered 43td St. He said a Chevrolet Equinox was turning north on W., causing it to crash into the passenger side.

According to investigators, the crash occurred around 10:40 p.m. Saturday, and the Equinox’s passenger, 37-year-old Sara Holmes, died Sunday morning at a nearby trauma center.

The driver of the car, who was slightly injured in the accident, was also treated at the trauma center.

Navarrete, who had his license suspended, was arrested and treated for minor injuries. BPD said they believe Holmes was drunk when he hit him.

BPD says the investigation is ongoing and Navarrete may face additional charges.
