IDF reinstates Kreuzer, who was deported for violating neutrality rules – Israeli Politics

IDF reassigned Otzma Yehudit MK Yitzhak Kreuzer He was reinstated on Sunday after being dismissed for alleged violations military neutrality on Saturday, in violation of previous agreements with the military.

Kreuzer was expelled from an IDF combat unit after a photo of him fighting in Lebanon was posted on Facebook.

Kreuzer, an incumbent member of the Knesset, was allowed to continue fighting in the IDF on the condition that he did not link his IDF service with his political career.

Kreuzer was reinstated after negotiations with his commander and the IDF’s Human Resources Directorate, during which Kreuzer made it clear that he was not the one who posted or shared the photo.

As a result of the discussion, Kreuzer was given the eight-day leave he was entitled to.

In the photo, Kreuzer and his team are seen sitting on the steps of a house in Lebanon with the words “MK Kreuzer’s Office” written on the wall.

Reactions to the suspension

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, head of Otzma Yehudit, thanked and embarrassed Kreuzer for defending the party member Haaretz for posting the photo in the first place.

Ben-Gvir then started to attack Haaretz‘s publisher for calling Hamas terrorists “freedom fighters.”

Addressing the dismissal, Kreuzer confirmed this and said: “I had the privilege of fighting for you for more than 100 days in the reserves last year. I will continue to fight for you in the Israeli Knesset, together with my caucus members in Israel. Otzma Yehudit. Thank you to everyone for the support I have received.” .”

National Rally Party chairman and former chief of staff Benny Gantz emphasized that this was a sign of the breakdown of discipline in the IDF, but criticized the dismissal for damaging morale during the war.
