Asheville police report a man was arrested for burglary as the victim was leaving his home

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) – The Asheville Police Department says a man who left a home with stolen items Friday was arrested on burglary and theft charges.

Officers reported responding to a home near Glen Falls Road at 1:47 a.m. on Nov. 1 after receiving a call reporting someone breaking into the residence.

Police said 49-year-old Ryan Douglas Ross was arrested as he left the home and was found to be in possession of drugs and several other items belonging to the homeowner.

According to officials, those living in the house were not harmed.

Ross was indicted on the following charges:

  • first degree theft
  • theft after breaking and entering
  • breaking and entering of a motor vehicle
  • injury to real estate
  • simple possession plan II

He was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Center and has bond set at $10,000.
