LHDN warns against fake MyTax return links

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 4 — The Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) has reiterated that it does not send taxpayers any links regarding their refund status through its MyTax portal.

In a statement today, the tax administration department clarified that no notification can be sent from this portal without appropriate authorization and warned that strict measures will be taken against the persons or organizations involved in the incident in accordance with the relevant legal provisions.

“LHDN advises the public to avoid the spread of misinformation that may mislead others.

“Distributing false news may lead to prosecution under Article 505 of the Criminal Code and Article 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA),” the statement said.

LHDN emphasized its serious approach to this issue and prioritized it as a very important step in tax administration towards increasing taxpayers’ confidence in the services provided by the institution.

“We are committed to continually improving the quality of our service and proactively addressing this issue,” the agency added.

Additionally, LHDN reminded the public to be wary of suspicious emails, links or messages received via WhatsApp. They urged taxpayers to verify any information through official LHDN channels: www.hasil.gov.my; https://mytax.hasil.gov.my; By calling 03-8911 1000; or by visiting the nearest LHDN office. — Bernama
