Detectives say shooting death of 25-year-old Akron ‘was not the intended target’

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) – Detectives believe a 25-year-old Akron man who was killed in October was shot accidentally.

On Oct. 25, Akron Police were called to an apartment in the 1100 block of Keys Place for a shooting just before 10:30 p.m.

Officers arrived to find 25-year-old Neiko Swesey suffering from a gunshot wound and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Monday, Akron Police said there was evidence that an unknown suspect opened fire outside the apartment, with one of the random bullets passing through a wall or window and striking Swesey.

Akron Police arrested a woman on October 25 for allegedly interfering with first responders and medical personnel.
