Man convicted of 2022 stabbing murder

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) – A Chatham County jury found a man guilty in connection with a 2022 murder.

Kenneth Mayes was convicted on November 1 of three counts of Voluntary Manslaughter, one count of Aggravated Assault, one count of Aggravated Battery, and two counts of Carrying a Knife During the Commission of a Felony.

Mayes found guilty after fatal stabbing James Walter Miller, May 17, 2022.

Records show that there was an argument between the two earlier that day. The dispute was initially resolved by Mayes leaving the residence. But after a while, they say, Mayes returned, found Miller asleep in his bed, then attacked him with a knife and killed him.

Mayes was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
