Brent Hunter indicted on murder charges in connection with his father's death

DEKALB CO., Ala.(WAFF) – A DeKalb County man will go to trial for his father’s murder.

Court records made public Monday show a grand jury indicted Brent Hunter on murder charges.

In 2023, Hunter was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree domestic violence, two counts of elder abuse and prohibition of certain persons from possessing firearms.

That day, police responded to a home and found two people injured there. One of those people was Hunter’s father, 75-year-old Mitchell Hunter.

Mitchell Hunter died from his injuries and Brent Hunter was charged with murder.

Hunter was also indicted on domestic violence and elder abuse and neglect charges.

He will be referred to the courthouse on December 12.
