35-Year-Old Government Employee Dies by Suicide in Tehsildar’s Office

Belagavi’s news: A 35-year-old government employee identified as Rudaranna Yadavanna was found dead by suicide at the Tehsildar’s office in Belagavi on Tuesday. Yadavanna, who was serving as a Second Division Assistant (SDA), was found hanging in the Tehsildar’s room, prompting the police to launch a detailed investigation to unravel the circumstances that led to his death.

A senior police official stated that their team was alerted after a body was found hanging with a veil in the office. Authorities are currently investigating potential reasons behind Yadavanna’s death, including allegations of workplace harassment or injustice, according to a report on PTI. Police are working closely with the Forensic Science Laboratory, which will thoroughly examine the scene, while CCTV footage from the office building is also being examined for possible clues.

The investigation took a significant turn after reports emerged that Yadavanna had posted a message on the staff WhatsApp group shortly before his death, naming two people whom he held responsible for his condition, IANS reported. In his message, he allegedly addressed the injustices taking place in the office and called on his colleagues to stand up against the “injustice” he faced.

The incident sparked political controversy, with Karnataka BJP leaders calling for the resignation of the minister in-charge of the ministry over lack of accountability and inadequate workplace protection.

Yadavanna, who was recently transferred to Belagavi, was working alongside her husband, who was working as the village accountant in the same office. Khadebazar police have registered the case and are investigating based on the statements of his family members and colleagues.
