Cobb County man sentenced to 2 life sentences for aggravated child molestation

A Cobb County man was sentenced to two life terms plus 38 years in prison after being convicted of multiple child molestation and rape charges, according to the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office.

Tyquan Kent, 40, was found guilty of 12 charges, including five counts of aggravated child molestation, four counts of child molestation, two counts of rape and one count of electronically providing obscene material to a minor. Superior Court Judge Kellie Hill imposed the sentence.

The case began on December 25, 2022, when two minor victims informed their mother about Kent’s sexual abuse, which had continued throughout the previous year. The mother took the children to a Cobb County hospital, where staff alerted authorities and prompted the immediate response of Detective Joshua Allen of the Cobb County Police Department.

Following medical evaluations, the family was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) for further evaluation, where Sexual Assault Nursing Exams (SANE) were performed. Forensic interviews conducted the next day at the SafePath Child Advocacy Center revealed that the abuse began at Motel 6 in December 2021 and continued after the family moved to the Red Roof Inn in August 2022.

Kent admitted to the harassment in an interview with Detective Allen on December 26, 2022.

District Attorney Flynn D. Broady Jr. He praised the bravery of the victims and praised the work of law enforcement in achieving justice. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kristen Judd and Rachel Plevak.
