What did BBHA say?

Bruhat Bengaluru Hoteliers Association (BBHA) president PC Rao told Deccan Herald: “Polices in different police limits are not allowing some restaurants to open shops 24×7 as per the government order. We will meet Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda and explain our concerns. “I believe we will solve this together.”

Rao said a copy of the government order has already been emailed to the police commissioner. The association is also seeking general permission without any restrictions. “Not all restaurants are willing to operate at all hours of the day, but some are. It should be left up to the owners to run their businesses without any restrictions. We will wait for a positive response and if we do not get a response, we will pursue legal options,” Rao added.

The government’s order reportedly only applies to restaurants, not bars that serve alcohol. Earlier, several members of the association met Karnataka MP CM DK Shivakumar and expressed their concerns about running a restaurant in the IT capital. They also demanded to combine the trade licence, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) license and shop and establishment licenses into a single permanent licence.
