Recently obtained court documents show that on September 30, a federal judge in New York dismissed Jessica Nicole Reid’s sexual assault and battery allegations against Charlamagne Tha God (real name: Lenard Larry McKelvey), Weekly In Touch reports.

The decision stated that the allegations were submitted beyond the statute of limitations and rejected Reid’s defamation claims. Reid was also denied the opportunity to change his case.

The case is officially closed.

Reid initially filed his lawsuit Breakfast Club In 2022, the host accused Charlamagne of sexual assault, battery and insult. He claimed that the alleged incident occurred in 2001 when he was 15 and she was 22.

The lawsuit detailed allegations that Reid met and befriended Charlamagne in 2001. She said he invited her to a party at the Short Term Marine Entertainment Center, where he gave her a drink that made her dizzy. Reid claimed the two men took her to the bathroom and attacked her before Charlamagne arrived and took her to the bedroom and attacked her.

“Charlamagne was having sex with Ms. Reid and could not do anything about it,” the lawsuit alleged.

Reid called his mother, who then contacted the police. However, the then-teenager did not cooperate with authorities during the investigation and did not press charges. Charlamagne denied the accusations and gave a DNA sample to police. Ultimately, he requested a reduced charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and received three years probation.

According to Reid’s lawsuit, Charlamagne spoke out about the incident years later but made “false” claims.

“Every time Ms. Reid turns on the radio and hears his voice, sees him on television, and passes his books in stores, she remembers what Charlamagne did to her,” her lawsuit read.

In his official court response, Charlamagne’s attorney pointed out inconsistencies in Reid’s allegations and the state’s refusal to reopen the case after nearly 20 years.

“(Reid) persisted in widely disseminating his false allegations, ignoring that the South Carolina Attorney confirmed in 2018 that there was no basis to bring sexual assault charges against Charlamagne while denying his request to reopen the case due to lack of evidence.” The media personality’s lawyer claimed.

“Witnesses confirmed that Charlamagne had left the party when the alleged assault occurred.”
