Jasper man arrested on child molestation charges

HUNTINGBURG, Ind. (WFIE) – A man was arrested on sexual battery and child molestation charges, Huntingburg Police Department officials said.

According to police, detectives opened a child abuse investigation on Oct. 21 regarding an incident that occurred in the summer of 2020.

The police department received the report from Crisis Connection in Jasper.

The complaint was against Serafin Mendoza Lopez, 34, of Huntingburg, who inappropriately touched an 11-year-old girl.

On October 31, Lopez was interviewed by police regarding the complaint.

Following further investigation and assistance from the Indiana State Police, Lopez was arrested for Child Molestation (Level 4 Felony) and Sexual Battery (Level 6 Felony).

Lopez was transported and placed at the Dubois County Security Center.
