CPS drops child sex case against West Yorkshire Police officer

A case against a former West Yorkshire Police officer investigated over historic child sexual abuse allegations has been dropped.

Amjad Ditta was serving in the force’s protective service operations and was based in Bradford.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed there was “no realistic prospect of conviction” for Mr Ditta, almost five years after he was charged with sexual contact in December 2019.

A CPS spokesman said: “The CPS has a duty to keep all its cases under constant review.”

“Following further evidence, the CPS concluded that there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction and therefore the proceedings against this defendant were discontinued.”

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said Mr Ditta was no longer a serving officer in the force, but his departure was not a result of a disciplinary hearing.
