Omaha man arrested in connection with South Carolina child abuse case

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A man wanted in connection with an ongoing child abuse investigation in South Carolina was arrested this week by Nebraska State Patrol investigators in Omaha.

Luis Romero, 36, of Omaha, faces nine charges in South Carolina: three counts of disseminating obscene material to a person under 18; three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor; and three counts of harassment of a minor.

Romero was arrested Wednesday morning and booked into the Douglas County jail, according to information NSP released Friday. NSP Technical Crimes Unit investigators made the arrest after they were contacted by the sheriff’s office in Anderson County, S.C., who said they believed the suspect was in Omaha.

Homeland Security investigators also helped locate and arrest Romero.
