“When we eventually landed in London in an emergency, two aircrew members and three passengers managed to perform CPR for 25 minutes as instructed by the defibrillator. Paramedics continued for a further 30 minutes when we were all instructed to leave the aircraft.”

“About an hour later the ambulance was still there but we boarded again with a new aircrew to continue our journey to Manchester without the man and his friends. “I asked and was told unfortunately the man had not made it.

“I was devastated when I learned the sad news”

London Stansted confirmed that the flight was diverted shortly before 8pm due to a medical emergency on board. The airport confirmed the plane was surrounded by paramedics and the airport fire brigade to attend to the passenger.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “An ambulance, a Hazardous Area Response Team vehicle, a paramedic car and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to Stansted Airport on Sunday evening following reports of a man suffering a medical emergency on board. “Sadly, “Despite all the interventions, the man died at the scene.”
