Fear as passenger dies on Ryanair flight to Manchester

‘Chaos’ occurred on the Ryanair flight to Manchester man suffered a mid-air medical emergency and later died on board.

A passenger on the plane described terrifying scenes during the flight when the man began ‘going into convulsions’ before being carried into the aisle and CPR started.

“He stopped breathing and everything turned into chaos,” they said. “A few of us with first aid training rushed to help and started CPR while the defibrillator was being set up.

“When we eventually landed in London in an emergency, two aircrew members and three passengers managed to perform CPR for 25 minutes as instructed by the defibrillator. Paramedics continued for a further 30 minutes when we were all instructed to leave the aircraft.”

“About an hour later the ambulance was still there but we boarded again with a new aircrew to continue our journey to Manchester without the man and his friends. “I asked and was told unfortunately the man had not made it.

“I was devastated when I learned the sad news”

London Stansted confirmed that the flight was diverted shortly before 8pm due to a medical emergency on board. The airport confirmed the plane was surrounded by paramedics and the airport fire brigade to attend to the passenger.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “An ambulance, a Hazardous Area Response Team vehicle, a paramedic car and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were called to Stansted Airport on Sunday evening following reports of a man suffering a medical emergency on board. “Sadly, “Despite all the interventions, the man died at the scene.”
