Indianapolis woman arrested in connection with murder – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man in Indianapolis. Barton Towers apartments on 25 September.

According to court documents, 65-year-old Forest Hill Jr. was found dead from multiple stab wounds in a bloody apartment during a welfare check, still clutching money in his hand.

Tationa Sims, 30, was charged Wednesday in Marion Superior Court 31 with the involuntary manslaughter of Hill.

Sims told police he was homeless when he met Hill. He would come and go from Hill’s apartment for sexual intercourse, but the relationship ended after two weeks.

Security footage leading up to Hill’s death showed Hill entering his apartment with Sims. He took the knife and left the apartment.

While Sims claimed Hill became more aggressive and used drugs, “He put his hands on me and started kicking me and taking control like he was going to hurt me, and I stabbed him.”

After Sims left, he told police he called his mother, threw away the knife and ran into Hill’s friend in the lobby of the apartments. Instead of calling for help, Sims “told him what happened and I told him to help, that’s all.”

Sims said Hill allegedly provoked her into stabbing her “as if he wanted me to do something to her” and that he would later talk to her about suicidal thoughts.

Sims told police he didn’t know Hill died from his injuries.

Detectives took a screenshot of the text message, which was an anonymous tip sent by someone who texted Sims. The anonymous tip claimed that Sims sent the message. “I defended myself too (with a smiling emoji),” he commented, sharing a link to Hill’s death story.

Hill had just been released from prison. His family told News 8 on Sept. 26 that he wanted to start a new life.
