Inmate stabbed to death at High Desert State Prison was killed by his cellmate

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – An inmate at High Desert State Prison was stabbed to death by his cellmate last Thursday.

The Nevada Department of Corrections confirmed to FOX5 that the incident occurred and that the inmate died as a result. The Clark County Coroner identified the inmate as Hawk Urban, a 27-year-old Native American.

Jail records show he is serving time for battery and parole violation.

NDOC also confirmed that the victim and the suspect were cellmates at the time. They had also previously been held together at Ely State Prison for 258 days without incident.

The suspect’s identity could not be determined.
