Amtrak service between DC and NYC resumes after suspension

Amtrak Northeast service between New York and Washington, D.C., is experiencing delays as general power problems in Philadelphia caused service to be suspended, officials said.

Train services have since resumed, but to the disappointment of many passengers on Wednesday afternoon.

Amtrak staff had previously suspended service in both directions due to a fire in the Bronx on Tuesday, but by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday they had fully restored the tracks between New York Penn Station and New Haven Union Station.

Minor delays can be expected as trains pass through the area.

Normal operations were initially expected to resume around 2 p.m. Wednesday, but were later postponed as Amtrak crews repaired damage to the tracks.

Amtrak officials said they are communicating directly with affected customers about the service interruption and offering options to rebook their travel plans.
