Apparent fatal stabbing at Embarcadero BART investigated

SAN FRANCISCO — A man died in a stabbing outside a San Francisco BART station early Wednesday, police and authorities said.

Authorities did not immediately release any other information about the man, including his identity, or offer a possible motive in the case.

The incident, which occurred in front of the Embarcadero Station on Market Street, shut down the system for about 40 minutes during the morning commute, officials said.

San Francisco police said in a statement that they responded around 5:50 a.m. to reports of a person bleeding outside the station. Officers arrived to find a male with an unspecified injury. Police said they and paramedics assisted, but the man died at the scene.
