“They tried to force the entrance, which was blocked by the police,” Brussels police spokeswoman Ilse Van de Keere said in a statement.

Tom Van Grieken, leader of Vlaams Belang, shared images of protesters throwing garbage bags and road signs at the office entrance on his X account.

“They destroyed the entrances, destroyed the (security) cameras, to make matters worse, they tried to set fire to a building where people were living,” he said.

He said those responsible were left-wing.

“We have the serious impression that the real anti-democrats are the left. “When they cannot crush nationalist or patriotic parties in the voting booth, this has to happen by other means,” he said.

“Then this must happen through intimidation, violence and prosecution.”
