Sources said Wachira sabotaged the SHA and Ruto was angry about this and wanted him to leave.

Wachira has been on the government’s radar for some time due to suspicions that he was not fully committed to the transition from the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to the SHA and that he might be behind some of the difficulties that have stymied that plan.

“While Wachira was making public statements in support of the SHA, he had the feeling in his heart that he was silently praying that the NHIF he was running would remain,” a source in the authorities said.

Since then, Ruto has been looking for a reason to fire Wachira.

An opportunity arose when Wachira was alleged to have paid Sh1.3 billion between the end of last month and last week to some SHA and NHIF service providers who were not part of the hospitals who refused to treat patients until the government paid the money they owed. them.
