Parolee accused of rape accepts 16-year prison sentence and reduced sentence | Arkansas Democrat Gazette

A 26-year-old Little Rock parolee accused of rape accepted a reduced sentence of 16 years in prison for second-degree sexual assault.

Sentencing documents filed Tuesday show Marcus Darell London Jr. pleaded no contest to a Class B felony charge, which carries a sentence of up to 40 years in prison for repeat offenders like London with at least four prior convictions. Rape is a Class Y crime that carries a sentence of 10 years to life in prison for these offenders.

The sentence was imposed by Pulaski County District Judge Cathi Compton, and London’s plea deal was negotiated by assistant prosecutor Jordan Snowden and defense attorney Willard Proctor.

The charge stems from a consensual encounter involving oral sex between Walls and a then-23-year-old woman at her Little Rock apartment about five days before Thanksgiving in November 2021, according to police reports and court records.

The woman told police that after their consensual encounter, London surprised her when he began taking off his pants. The woman told police that when she questioned him, London told her he would do whatever he wanted and even though she asked him to stop, he pinned her down and forced her to have sex.

London told her, among other things, “you’re going to have my baby.”

DNA testing found London’s sperm in his underwear in November 2022, and he was arrested in March 2023, the day after police issued an arrest warrant. He has been detained since that date.

London has been in trouble with the law since he was a teenager, having been convicted of burglary, break-in or theft, theft and burglary. In May 2016, London and another teenager were caught after breaking into a car at the Outlets of Little Rock at 11201 Bass Pro Parkway and stealing items inside, according to reports. He was arrested again three months later, in July 2016, when Little Rock police found him on Geyer Springs Road with a stolen sport utility vehicle and a stolen gun.

His third arrest that year came in August 2016, when he was one of three teenagers accused of picking up a 16-year-old boy the year before. The boy came to them to buy marijuana. Charges against the other defendants were dropped, and London pleaded guilty to robbery and theft in January 2017 in exchange for a 10-year prison sentence. His parole was approved in May 2021.
