Spencer Johnson takes five wickets as Australia secure T20 series win against Pakistan

Spencer Johnson’s maiden international five-wicket haul helped Australia take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the T20 series against Pakistan with a 13-run win in Sydney.

The 28-year-old bowler won the second T20 of the best-of-three series by taking 5-26 as Australia dismissed Pakistan for 134.

As Pakistan chased 148 to win, Johnson took three wickets to outscore the visitors 44-4 to move into top spot.

Pakistan regained a foothold with the help of Usman Khan’s half-century.

However, Johnson removed Khan for 52, then removed Abbas Afridi for his fifth wicket of the match.

Irfan Khan’s unbeaten 37 took Pakistan to within striking distance, but Haris Rauf ran off the field as the home side were bowled out for 134.

“This is an opportunity I do not take lightly; I have the privilege of wearing the green and gold,” Johnson said.

“You never know when you’re going to play your last game for Australia, so every game is a bonus. Hopefully I can play a few more.”

The third and final T20 will take place in Hobart on November 18.
