Police charged a man with theft

Police have arrested and charged a suspected burglar after an employee at a George Town business found a masked man carrying a crowbar trying to break into the premises.

According to a statement from RCIPS, officers responded to a report of theft at a location on Portland Road on Thursday morning.

After interrupting the employee, the thief fled on foot, then got into a nearby vehicle and drove away, police said.

RCIPS said it was later determined that the door to the building had been damaged to gain entry.

“Officers quickly located the suspect vehicle and arrested a person in connection with the theft. Police stated that the man was searched and some marijuana was found on him.

The 21-year-old man from Bodden Township has since been formally charged with burglary, property damage and drug offenses.

He will appear in court on Monday, November 18.
