Odisha Court Sentences Kapilendra Mallick for Rape of a Minor

A court in Odisha’s Kendrapara district sentenced a 53-year-old man to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a woman. little girl.

Manoj Kumar Sahu, special public prosecutor of the court, Additional District Judge and Special Judge (POCSO) Kendrapara, Pragyan Paramita Roul, said he pronounced the verdict on Saturday based on the medical report and the testimony of 19 witnesses, including the victim girl.

Sahu said the court also directed the Odisha State Legal Services Authority (OSLSA) to pay compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the victim girl under the government’s Odisha Victim Compensation Scheme.

According to the prosecutor, the girl was raped He was at his house by his neighbor Mallick on June 6, 2022, when he went to his friend’s house to meet him.

The girl’s mother lodged an FIR at the local police station and Mallick was arrested.
