Alabama football’s nonconference schedule wrapped up without much of a challenge on Saturday.

number 9 Crimson Tide It beat annual FCS rival Mercer 52-7 on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Alabama has 16 consecutive wins against FCS opponents since 2007, when coach Nick Saban made his Crimson Tide debut.

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe picked up where he left off after the Crimson Tide’s dominant road win against LSU, scoring three touchdowns and connecting on points with wide receiver Ryan Williams and tight end Robbie Ouzts. Williams added a 29-yard field goal.

The Crimson Tide defense continued to display its takeaway tendencies with two forced fumbles and a Qua Russaw interception, one of which led to a Zabien Brown touchdown.

At the start of the fourth quarter, a rotating lineup of second- and third-string players allowed the Crimson Tide to earn X points and turn Alabama’s focus to its Nov. 23 game against Oklahoma.

Defensively, the Crimson Tide have forced six field goals and one touchdown in their last two games against SEC opponents. Mercer is catching Alabama at the wrong time. The Crimson Tide should dominate Mercer in a game that should feature game film of many second- and third-string players on the Alabama roster.

Alabama football may be without right tackle Jaeden Roberts on Saturday against Mercer.

Smith has 20 tackles and five pass deflections in nine games.

Mercer is one of the best teams in the FCS. The Bears are ranked No. 7 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 with a 9-1 record.

Skies will be clear all afternoon for the Alabama-Mercer game. High temperatures are expected to reach 70 degrees with a calm wind, according to the National Weather Service.

Because this is not an SEC game, Alabama has not released a conference availability report.

Wide receiver Cole Adams and linebacker Que Robinson are out for the season. Safety Keon Sabb is also expected to miss his third straight game.

On Monday, Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said after the Crimson Tide’s win against LSU that he expects powerhouse DeVonta Smith to be “good throughout the week.”

DeBoer said Wednesday that Alabama right tackle Jaeden Robetrs “could come back” after leaving with an injury against LSU, but “we don’t want to force that.”

“It will be ready to go in some capacity,” DeBoer said.

Alabama has four wins of at least 20 points in its four meetings with Mercer.

After two 20-0 victories over Mercer in 1939 and 1940, Alabama beat the Bears 56-0 in Tuscaloosa in 2017. The Crimson Tide allowed Mercer to score for the first time in 2021, beating the Bears 48-14.

During the Nick Saban era, Alabama has compiled 15 wins against FCS opponents by at least three goals each.
