One person was arrested after the accident in NKY, Texas, in which 2 people died and 1 person was injured.

MAYSVILLE, Ky. (WXIX) – A Texas man has been arrested for vehicular homicide after killing two people in a multi-vehicle crash in Northern Kentucky over the weekend.

William Lee Johnny Darnell, 38, of McKinney, Texas, was charged with vehicular manslaughter while under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, first-degree assault, first-degree intentional endangerment, DUI. marijuana and other traffic offenses, according to a Kentucky State Police press release.

The crash occurred Saturday, Nov. 16, on Highway AA at the intersection of Slack Pike Road in Maysville.

At approximately 8:25 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 8 received a call for assistance from Mason County police officers for a report of a fatal multiple vehicle collision.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a silver Nissan Xterra operated by Darnell was traveling westbound on Highway AA when it rear-ended a Hyundai Sonata operated by Joshua Mark Wells, 39, of Germantown, Kentucky, the press release said.

Troopers say the collision forced Wells’ vehicle, a Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 31-year-old woman from Germantown, into the eastbound lane and into the oncoming road.

As a result, Wells and her passenger, Latasha Kay Wells, 44, of Germantown, were pronounced dead at the scene by Mason County Prosecutor David Lawrence.

The 31-year-old woman was flown to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where she remained. Soldiers stated that his condition was stable.

Darnell is currently being held behind bars at the Mason County Detention Center.
