Peekskill man killed in New York stabbing spree

A Peekskill man has been identified as one of three victims killed in an attack. Stabbing spree in Manhattan Monday.

Angel Lata Landi, 36, a construction worker from Peekskill, was found with multiple stab wounds to the abdomen at W. 19th Street and 8th Avenue in Chelsea around 8:22 a.m. Monday morning, the NYPD said.

Lata Landi was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals Bellevue, where she was pronounced dead.

According to NYPD, Ramon Rivera, 51, He was taken into custody following the spree and charged with three counts of first-degree murder after killing a 68-year-old man near FDR Drive and a 36-year-old woman near 42nd Street and First Avenue.

Mayor Eric Adams addressed the incident at a press conference Monday morning, calling the incidents “unprovoked attacks.”

“Today, three innocent New Yorkers who were victims of a horrific, horrific attack are living their lives,” Adams said. “This is a clear-cut example of the criminal justice system and mental health system that continues to fail New Yorkers.”

The NYPD said Rivera was homeless and was released by the Department of Corrections in October after being previously charged with burglary and assault.
