Uttarakhand’s Economic Wave: Skill Development and Youth Empowerment Leads the Way

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GSDP) has increased 1.3 times in the last two years. This announcement was made during the Skills Development and Employment Convocation at Doon University.

Dhami unveiled the government’s ambitious plan to double the state’s GSDP in five years, highlighting the important role skills development plays in empowering youth and promoting new opportunities for them. The state’s unemployment rate decreased by 4.4% in a single year, reflecting the positive impact of these initiatives.

Uttarakhand also secured the top spot in Niti Aayog’s Sustainable Development Goals rankings. Dhami emphasized the importance of initiatives such as Prime Minister Modi’s Skill India campaign, which aims to align youth skills with professional demands, thereby creating a self-reliant India. The state prioritizes youth empowerment and has rolled out numerous programs, including collaboration with Ashok Leyland, to facilitate internship and employment opportunities.
