SLO County man sentenced to prison after raping and impregnating teenage girl

A Santa Maria man who raped and impregnated a 16-year-old was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office It was announced on Wednesday.

Juan Sanchezflores, now 44, attacked a 16-year-old boy on a rural property near Lopez Lake in May 2019, according to a news release from the District Attorney’s Office.

The statement stated that Sanchezflorez pleaded guilty in court and was found guilty of rape by force or violence and inflicting grievous bodily harm on a 16-year-old child.

“The major bodily injury increase in the sentence is based on the young survivor becoming pregnant as a result of the crime,” the statement said.

Sanchezflores was sentenced to 25 years to life in state prison and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, according to the release.

“Predators are not welcome here,” District Attorney Dan Dow said in the release. “Any person who commits a violent crime like this will be severely prosecuted by this office.

“My heart goes out to this survivor and I am grateful for her courage in seeking help from the criminal and victim justice system,” she continued. “I hope this case serves to encourage all other survivors to report knowing they will be heard and defended in San Luis Obispo County.”
