Downtown Los Angeles isn’t quite Hollywood, but the Crypto.com Arena is home to one of Southern California’s biggest shows: The Lake Show.

It is clear even from the television broadcast that the Lakers’ home games are like a Hollywood production. The stage lighting in the arena with the stars playing on the field and those sitting on the sidelines completes the scene. Now the Lakers have a new jersey that perfectly captures the Hollywood feel.

As part of the NBA’s “City Edition” program, the Lakers will debut their new Lake Show jerseys for the 2024-25 season against the Magic on Thursday, Nov. 21. While the purple, black and gold color combination has been done on Laker jerseys before, this set is unlike anything the franchise has worn before.

Lakers’ ‘Lake Show’ jerseys announced

The Lakers’ “Lake Show” jerseys are similar to the classic Laker jersey. Officially called the “California Destiny” uniform to recognise the team’s “combination of elite basketball IQ and exciting presentation.”

The uniforms are predominantly purple but with a gradient pattern; The jersey progresses from black in the shoulder area to a rich purple on the body. Shorts reverse this trend; The purple color starts from the waist area and progresses to black near the knees.

The jerseys feature “Lake Show” text on the chest and numbers matching the franchise’s jersey numbers from 1999 to 2017. The origins of the “Lake Show” nickname date back to the 1990s, when the franchise entered a new era after Magic. The Johnson-led “Showtime” era in the 1980s.

This will be the first time in franchise history that the words “Lake Show” appear on a jersey.

Lakers’ ‘Lake Show’ venue announced

When the Lakers wear their “California Destiny” jersey at home, they will play on a matching court.

The field’s playing area is relatively quiet except for the large purple “LA” logo at midfield. The field also features 17 stars on the sideline representing the series’ championships.

The gradient pattern is represented on the field. Although the keys will be painted solid black, a progression from purple to black is noticeable along the perimeter of the court. “Lake Show” appears on each baseline.
