Clinton man sentenced to 8 years in federal prison on child pornography charges

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – A Clinton man was sentenced today to 97 months, or eight years and one month, in federal prison for receiving child pornography.

Brent Michael Fisher, 48, had 15 devices containing child sexual abuse material, including cell phones and memory cards, according to court documents.

According to records, Fisher’s then-wife brought two memory cards containing the material to law enforcement, drawing the officer’s attention.

Through search warrants, the Clinton Police Department determined Fisher was in possession of more than 36,000 images and approximately 10,000 videos containing child sexual abuse material.

Court records show Fisher will have to serve five years of probation following his prison sentence. There is no parole in the federal system.

He will also pay $93,000 in restitution. Fisher must register as a sex offender.

According to a media statement, this case was filed as part of the Safe Childhood Project, which was launched nationwide by the Department of Justice in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of sexual exploitation and abuse of children. Led by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood brings together federal, state, and local resources to better identify, capture, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
